  • Spring Gala brings in almost $32,000 before expenses

  • The Orion Educational Foundation brought in $31,899 in gross receipts with the Spring Gala on Friday, March 23, at the Milan Community Center.



    Ticket sales for the $5,000 cash raffle totaled $12,100.



    Jessi Williams and Kara Matzen won the grand prize of $2,500 in the cash raffle.

    A prize of $1,000 went to Tennant Trucking.

  • The Orion Educational Foundation brought in $31,899 in gross receipts with the Spring Gala on Friday, March 23, at the Milan Community Center.
    Ticket sales for the $5,000 cash raffle totaled $12,100.
    Jessi Williams and Kara Matzen won the grand prize of $2,500 in the cash raffle.
    A prize of $1,000 went to Tennant Trucking.
    Four prizes of $250 each were awarded to Mike Martens, Cindy DeBaillie, and Dwayne and Pam Anderson, and Jennifer Norton. Another $250 prize was given to Brad and Diane Gainey, Judy Frenell and Doreen Decker, and the final $250 prize went to Melissa McCullough and Brooke Buchen.
    In an early bird drawing, Chris Weber received $100, and so did Orion Middle School teachers.
    Several winners donated all or part of their prize back to the foundation, including Tennant Truck Lines ($800), Dwayne and Pam Anderson ($250) and Weber ($100).
    The live auction brought in $15,750 and the silent auction, $2,169. Items, donors and buyers will be listed in next week’s issue.
    The “Bucks and Does” game and 50/50 drawing brought in $545, and other games and mini-raffles, $735.
    Bonnie VanHoutte won $275 in the “Bucks and Does” game. A person whose name was not available won $100 in the “Noodling” game, and Sue Dhabalt won $50 in the same activity.
    Cash donations totaled $600.
