Elva G. Garrison, 88, formerly of Cambridge, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Care Center of Abingdon.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kewanee. Rev. Burnell Eckart officiated. Burial was at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Elva Grace Morrison was born on Aug. 15, 1923, in Kewanee, the daughter of Lowell E. and Mabel A. (Hepner) Morrison. She was educated in Kewanee schools and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1941. Her marriage to Charles Garrison took place on June 22, 1947, in Kewanee. He passed away on March 3, 2007. Elva worked as a secretary first for the Henry County Cooperative Extension Service for several years and then at the law office of Telleen, Telleen, and Braendle in Cambridge.
Her memberships included St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kewanee, and the Cambridge Homemakers Extension Unit. She was a member and past president of the Cambridge American Legion Auxiliary. Elva enjoyed flowers, gardening, and her grandson.
Those surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Mark Havens of Avon; a grandson, Douglas Havens; several nieces and nephews including; Cindy (David) Ramsay of Peoria, Cathy (Clayton) Wright of O’Fallon, Mo., Marcia (Vern) Jones of Davenport, Iowa, Terry (Michelle) Hargadine of Florida and Michael Hargadine of Florida.
Her parents, her husband, and sister, Lela Hargadine, preceded her in death.
