  • Registration times, dates and place
    No early registration. Anyone unable to register during the times below should phone the C.R. Hanna office at (309) 526-3386.
    All new students—9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Aug. 2, and Friday, Aug. 3, C.R. Hanna Elementary School office.
    All others (including pre-kindergarten students)—9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Orion Middle School.
    During registration
    Children entering C.R. Hanna for the first time must have a birth certificate from the state or county, not from a hospital. Boys and girls entering kindergarten must be 5 years old before Sept. 1.
    Parents who ordered Back-to-School Packs may pick them up.
    Children who qualify for the book fee waiver also qualify for free school supplies, which Orion Lions Club supplies. Parents need to fill out both the book fee waiver and the free supplies form.
    Important dates
    1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10—Class lists will be posted on the windows near the main entrance of the school. Also, they will be on the school website, http://orionschools.us, for a short time.
    Noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 —Accompanied by parents, kindergarten students have individual conferences with their teachers.
    4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14—Backpack Night. First- through fifth-grade students and parents are invited to visit teachers in their classrooms. Children may choose their desk and put away school supplies.
    8:10 to 2:49 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15—First full day of school for kindergarten through fifth grade. There is no half-day this year.
    6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27—Mandatory meeting for parents with children enrolled in pre-kindergarten program.
    8:10 to 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28—First day of pre-kindergarten classes.
    Fees
    Fees must be paid or other arrangements made before school begins on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Textbook rental $50, science fee $5, activity fee $10, assignment notebook and folder $3, testing fee $10, technology fee $12.
    Early childhood, kindergarten through third grade and fifth grade—Total $90.
    Fourth grade—Total $95 (includes recorder fee).
