Orion High School is offering express registration again.
Students may pick up packets with all of the registration forms between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, and Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the school.
The completed packet may be returned any time during registration hours listed below. After school officials review it, students may leave.
The packet is not to be mailed back.
Students new to the district may call the school at (309) 526-3361 and schedule an appointment to register on Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 at the high school. The hours for Aug. 2 are 9 a.m. to noon.
Returning students will register on Wednesday, Aug. 4, and Thursday, Aug. 5, at Orion Middle School.
Registration on Aug. 4 will be from 9 a.m. to noon, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
On Aug. 5, the hours will be 12:30 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
Anyone who cannot register on those days should phone the office at (309) 526-3361.
Teachers’ institute will be Monday, Aug. 16.
OHS will have a half-day of class from 8 to 11:32 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
Wednesday, Aug. 18, will be the first full day of classes. Students will be at OHS from 8 a.m. to 3:03 p.m.
The high school will hold its open house on Thursday, Aug. 26.
Schedule changes
Students will not be allowed to make schedule changes at registration. They must wait until after school starts.
Schedule changes will be allowed only for three reasons: The student failed a pre-requisite for a class last spring; a senior needs a schedule to change to meet graduation requirements; or a teacher indicates a class is not suitable.
Requests for schedule changes for all other reasons will be denied.
Classes will be assigned to lunch periods on the first day of school,
when the number in each class has been determined and it is possible to balance the number of students in each lunch period.
Medical emergency form
Pre-printed medical emergency forms will be available at registration.
Students need to check the information on the form, make any corrections and return it to the school office on or before the first day of school.
It is very important to have the student’s middle name and birth city on the form.
The address must include post office box, if any, and the town where the student lives.
Also, the school would like to have e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers.
