Taxing body Orion Community Unit School District 223

Postion Member, school board; member, district calendar, discipline, insurance and graduation requirements committees

Who and what inspired you to enter public service?

I have always been impressed with the excellent teachers and educational programs in Orion. I wanted to have some small part in continuing this level of excellence.

Why did you seek this position?

A previous board member left. I applied to complete the remainder of his term. Since then, I have won two more re-elections, as I believe with my background in education I can bring a different perspective.

What are your biggest challenges as a public servant? How do you handle them?

Responding to the many differing viewpoints when difficult and unpopular decisions need to be made. I try to keep informed so I can have an open mind and listen to all sides of the discussion.

What moments have been the most memorable in your public service?

Learning about all areas in the working of the district.

Making very difficult decisions and trying to always have the best interests of the students in mind.
