Reggie Larson will continue to teach in the Orion school district, though not as a physical education teacher at C.R. Hanna Elementary School.

After three years in a full-time position at C.R. Hanna, Larson will transfer to Orion High School and teach driver’s education as a half-time position.

The Orion school board decided on the moves at its Wednesday, May 19, meeting.

C.R. Hanna was authorized to hire another third grade teacher, which will help keep class sizes down, according to Principal R.C. Lowe. He adjusted the aides’ schedules to save enough money to pay for the teacher.

Board members accepted the resignation of OHS counselor Cindy Willard, who was to have devoted part of her time next year to helping with girls physical education classes.

Others whose resignations were accepted were Amy Krizman, as high school registrar and secretary; Andrew Lister, as OHS detention supervisor; and Jay Solomonson, as OHS class sponsor.

Teachers announcing retirement in June 2014 were Shelly Johnson, the OHS librarian who will teach art next year, and Linnea Gustafson, who teaches at C.R. Hanna.

A former staff members, Linda Williams, will return to OHS as a
half-time Spanish teacher.

Denise Jacobsen will be the district accounting manager, replacing Deb Ford.

Board members rehired two full-time secretaries, Sheri Schulenberg and Paula Mathena.

The board also recalled aides Monica Lewis, Jennifer Bell, Marcia Coffman, Lori Longley, Dawn Coe, Teresa Harrington, Judy Marine, Jody Belowske, Geri Schneider, Carrie McCunn, Amber Spranger, Christi Monson, Sherri Hamilton and Tia Heppner.

Their hours and duties will be determined later.

Cooks and other food service personnel rehired were Debra Barham, Crista Barr, Lori Cook, Teresa Erdmann, Sharon Peterson, Lisa Stiles, Michele Weston and Marcia Womac, all for four hours a day, and Lou Ann Johnson and Christina Zurcher, for 2 1/2 hours a day.

Also rehired was bus monitor Tracie Sundeen, who will be part-time.

Volleyball coaches were hired for Orion Middle School, Beth Galliart for eighth grade and Jennifer Dean for seventh grade.
