Dorothy L. Quayle, 86, of Cambridge, died Friday, March 9, 2018, at Good Samaritan, in Geneseo. A memorial visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 12 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, in Geneseo. A private inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, in Geneseo, at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Dorothy Quayle Memorial Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Dorothy was born May 1, 1931, in Moline, the daughter of Charles E. and Cobie (Miller) McKinzie. She graduated from Geneseo High School with the Class of 1949. Dorothy was united in marriage to Ivan Quayle in 1949. She preceded her in death in 1995. Dorothy was an LPN, first working at Hammond-Henry Hospital, in Geneseo, and later practiced under Dr. Young and Dr. DeGracia for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, ceramics, cooking, and golfing. Dorothy was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Those let to cherish her memory include her sons, Rick Quayle, of Cambridge; and Bruce (Donna) Quayle, of Peoria; grandchildren, Courtney (Jon) Gentry, Matt (Kelli) Quayle, Jake (Erica Heid) Quayle and Kelly Quayle-Piggot; four great-grandchildren, Maxx and Maelyn Gentry and Lilly and Ella Quayle; and sisters, Dixie Lund, of Osco; and Helen Ludwig, of Geneseo. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cobie; husband, Ivan; grandson, Maice Quayle; two sisters; and one brother.
