Members of the Henry County Beef Association met for their 56th annual banquet on Saturday, March 17 at Lavender Crest Winery, in Colona.

Illinois Beef Association President Jodi Bucher and Director of Communications/Interim Executive Vice-President Jill Johnson spoke about the current happenings

at the IBA and legislation affecting

cattle producers.

Awards were presented during the banquet including:

• Beef Backer — Presented to Jill Johnson.

• Lifetime Achievement Award — Presented to Ken DeSmith.

• Friend of the Industry Award — Presented to Dave Clarke.

• Young Cattleman — Presented to

Matt Johnson.

• Outstanding Member — Presented to Cassie Strand.

New beef ambassadors were introduced and include: Laney Fuqua, of Cambridge; Elissa Dynes, of Kewanee; and Grace Versluys, of Geneseo.

Senior ambassadors are: Justin Lyman, of Cambridge; Garrett Jackson, of Alpha; Michael Seabloom, of Lynn Center; and Austin Reed, of Cambridge.

Outgoing ambassadors are: Maddy Stevens, of Cambridge; Nichole Haverback, of Atkinson; and Kristen VanDeVelde, of Galva. The exiting ambassadors all received scholarships.

The evening concluded with an auction to benefit the association’s scholarship fund.
