SCIOTA — McDonough County Chief Deputy Nick Petitgout reports the arrest of a 15-year-old girl in connection with a school threat at the West Prairie High School in Sciota.
On Tuesday at 3 p.m.  the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the West Prairie School District about a hand written note in a bathroom at the high school. The note stated a specific threat of violence against students and that the incident would occur on Friday.
McDonough County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the school and met with school staff to identify the suspect. At 9:30 p.m., detectives took the girl into custody. She was charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct. Further investigation determined that the girl did not have access to any firearms and did not intend to carry out the threat against the students.
The girl was lodged in the Mary Davis Home in Galesburg, pending a juvenile detention hearing.
Petitgout stated all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
