Traffic on I-74 and IL 82 through Andover and Lynn Center has returned to normal, the Henry County Sheriff's Department reports.
Drivers are asked to avoid using I-74 or IL 81 through the Andover and Lynn Center area this morning, Friday, Oct. 14, according to a press release from the Henry County Sheriff's Department. Motorists should use Route 150, Osco Road, Route 6 or Route 17 to go through the area, the press release said.

As the village prepares for the most important of the year, Orion Fall Festival, vandals again damaged the historic band shell that is the heart of the festival, according to Village Trustee Steve Newman. “The Board of Trustees wants Orion residents to know these acts will not be tolerated,” Newman said. “Planning has already begun to find a reasonable solution to ensure this never happens again.”

Orion trustees have voted 4-2 to continue having the Henry County Sheriff’s Department provide police coverage here. Trustees Roger Peterson, Robert “Deano” O’Leary, Steve Newman and Mel Drucker voted in favor of a motion to continue the contract with the county. Voting against the motion were Dale Stiles and Jamie Lawson.
The George Mille Saw Mill caught fire early Thursday morning, June 30, in rural Galva. Fire departments on the scene included Cambridge, Galva, Osco and Andover, Bishop Hill, Kewanee and Atkinson.

Orion trustees are considering a proposal to establish a police department. Trustee Dale Stiles has proposed hiring a police chief and a full-time officer to cover two shifts. Part-time officers would fill some shifts, providing the same coverage Orion now has. His proposal would cost about $41,000 less than the village pays the Henry County Sheriff’s Department for three full-time officers.
ORION—A winter storm hit Orion Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 1 and 2. The 17-1/2-inch snow was accompanied by high winds, which created blizzard warnings from noon on Tuesday through noon on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Orion schools had snow days from Tuesday through Thursday, the first snow days of 2010-11.
