Orion Charger Tanner Williams will compete in the finals of the state slam dunk contest on Friday, March 12, in Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center.

Judges awarded Williams 29 points for his 45-second routine on Thursday evening, March 11, in Carver Arena.

During the routine, the 6-5 sophomore had to make at least two dunks.

Other finalists are Calvin Lewis of Stark County, a 6-6 junior; Chris Baker of Ullin Century, a 6-0 senior; and Nicholas Calleja of Decatur Lutheran, a 6-5 junior.

They were among 32 competitors. No one was allowed to use props, except they could use more than one basketball if they wanted.
