Horse teams finish high

Henry County 4 H horse judging teams consisently placed in the top 10 during contests this spring.

The junior and senior teams recorded their first top-10 finishes on Saturday, March 7, at the Illinois State Horse Fair in Springfield.

On Saturday, March 21, both teams entered horse bowl and hippology contests at Black Hawk College, East Campus, Kewanee.

Their competition included teams from Mercer, Rock Island, Grundy, McLean and Warren counties in Illinois.

Both Henry County teams and several individuals placed in the top 10.

On Saturday, April 18, the teams again participated in the Geneseo FFA’s contest at Black Hawk College.

Senior and junior team members took top honors at the event.

Coaches are Cindy Frisk, Ashlee Harkey and Rachel Brossman.

Team members include Samantha Mannon of Geneseo, Gus and Freya Block of Neponset, Amy Jacobs and Dee Stoner of Kewanee, Alyssa Gustus and Chelsea Vyncke of Orion, Isabella Frisk and Andrea Palmer of Cambridge and Marilyn Brandt of Andover, the reigning Henry County Fair Equestrian Ambassador.
