Two Orion Middle School wrestlers will compete in the IESA state tournament next weekend.
Jacob DeVolder placed first at 95 lbs. and Michael Dierikx third at 105 today in the sectional tournament at Huntley Middle School.
Jacob Edmunds came in fourth at 100 lbs. He is an alternate.
Chargers competing in sectionals also included Karsten Taets (90), Jacob Miller (112), Dakota Ditzman (119), Zach Zurcher (126), Dominic Martin (135) and Nic Johnson (167).
The state tournament will be held Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, at the Convocation Center on the Northern Illinois University campus in DeKalb.
In the preliminary round, Dierikx will wrestle Triston Dircks of Dwight. The winner will take the mat with Felipe Vazquez of Vernon Hills Hawthorn North in the first round.
As a sectional champion, DeVolder will have a bye in the preliminary round. His first-round opponent will be either Noah Keefe, New Lenox Liberty, or Conner Emrick, Quincy.
