Karen Ann Zurn, 74, of Coal Valley died on Sept. 21, 2011 after a brave three-year battle with pancreatic cancer, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Visitation was conducted Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline. Burial was in Western Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Karen was born Jan. 7, 1937, in Graceville, Minn., the daughter of Harold and Marian Zimbrick Lawrence. She married Roger “Skip” Zurn on July 20, 1957, in Graceville, Minn. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2004.
She was employed by Dr. Honda and Dr. Goldstein, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Karen loved spending time in Glacier Park, Mont., at her cabin in Hayward, Wis., and winters in Destin, Fla. She enjoyed reading, walking and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Mitch) Lee; sons, David Zurn and Terry (Anne) Zurn; grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler, Austin, Blake, Ashton, Logan and Chase; great-grandson, Kaiden; a sister, Sharyn (Hugh) Smith; brothers, Laurel (Marge) Lawrence, and Alton (Pat) Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Madison.
