Two state champions will lead eight area girls to the U.S. Trampoline & Tumbling Association’s national meet.
Kiah Kostka of Orion and Gracie Noble of Andover. earned state championships at the Northern Illinois tournament at Joliet West High School on Saturday, April 9, and Sunday, April 10. TwistStars Tumbling of Tinley Park hosted the meet.
Kostka is a three-time state champion and Noble a two-time state winner.
All of the girls who finished in the top 10 in their divisions (by age and ability) are eligible for nationals, which will be held from Tuesday, June 21, through Saturday, June 25, at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia.
Going on to nationals are:
•Kostka, tumbling, advanced girls, 15-16 years old;
•Gracie Noble, tumbling, beginner girls, 11 years and over;
•Malerie West, second place, tumbling, sub-advanced girls, 15-16 years old;
•Haillie Miller of Osco, third place, tumbling, advanced beginner girls, 11 year olds.
•Richelle Zurcher of Andover, sixth place, tumbling, novice girls, 15 years and over;
•Avery Noble of Andover, eighth place; tumbling, sub-novice girls, 7 years old;
•Cassidy Schultz of Andover, ninth place, tumbling, sub-novice girls, 10 years old;
•Alexandra Mack, ninth place, tumbling, intermediate girls, 11-12 years old.
Also competing was Jenna Zurcher of Andover, who placed 12th in tumbling among novice girls who were 9 years old.
