Eleanor “Ellie” DeMay, 73, of Orion died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.

A memorial Mass celebrating her life was conducted Saturday, Sept. 10, at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion, with a visitation held from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the mass.

Ellie’s wishes were to be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.  

Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd.  assisted the family.

Ellie was born July 16, 1938, in Marietta, the daughter of Isaac and Frances Derry Rowland.  She married August Lawrence DeMay Jr. on August 25, 1956, in Peoria.

She is survived by her husband, Augie; children, Kim (Rod) Lee, Marti (Kellee) DeMay, Kelli (Mike) Schroeder and Kourtni (Greg) Weaver; nine grandchildren; and one  great-grandchild.
