He was born on Jan. 4, 1951, in Rock Island to Sidney and Arlene Tennant of Orion. He graduated from Orion High School in 1969.
Dean married Tina Rogers on Oct. 27, 1979. They were married for 38 years. Dean grew up and spent most of his life in Orion, running the family business, Tennant Truck Lines, together with father Sid and brother Bob.
In 2002 he embarked on a new chapter of life that gave him more freedom to do the things he loved, especially spending time with his family, whom he loved more than anything.
He was an amazing listener, always took the time to figure out the right thing to do and brought an abundance of laughter and joy into the lives of everyone who knew him.
He was a patriot with a passion for seeing as much of our beautiful country as possible. He loved the Chicago Bears, NASCAR (especially Team Penske), the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Diesel Engines, Mopar cars, dogs and a nice beer with good company.
In 2014 Dean and Tina moved to Chandler to enjoy retirement, the beautiful weather and being just down the street from Brothers Mike and Bob.
Dean is survived by his wife, Tina; sons, Ryan of Streamwood and Adam (Janet) of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Mike (Sandy) Tennant of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Bob (Jeanne) Tennant of Orion; sister, Beth (Greg) Schoellermann of East Moline; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney E. and Arlene L. Tennant.
