Vernette Evelyn Larson, age 89, formerly of Andover, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial was in the Andover Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Augustana Lutheran Church Children’s Library.

Vernette was born on Jan. 4, 1919, in Moline, the daughter of Bernhardt “Ben” and Florence Carlson Carlson. She married Don R. “Lake” Larson on Feb. 14, 1947 in Carthage. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1996.
She was a licensed beautician before becoming a homemaker.
She was a member of the Andover Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the church choir and librarian for many years. She was a member of the I.N.F. Club and active with the Andover Historical Society. Vernette was involved with the Geneseo Community Center and the McGuffy Readers of Western District Library, Orion.
Survivors (and spouses) include a son, Stan (Marsha) Larson of Moline; daughters, Rita (Warren) Smith of Moline, Larinda Larson, and Laurie (Mark) Nelson of Orion; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jerry Milner of San Mateo, Calif.; and a cousin, Richard (Jenny) Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her brother, LaVerne Carlson, and her parents.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Wang and all the loving and caring staff that cared for her at Oak Glen. They were truly her “little angels.”
