Loretta L. Driessens, 90, of Annawan died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. Father Jerry Logan officiated. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan. Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan, with a parish rosary at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Geneseo, the daughter of Lawrence and Sadie (VanDamme) Catoor. She married Julius Driessens May 4, 1938, in Annawan. He died Nov. 30, 1992.
She farmed with her husband in the Annawan area until 1961 when they moved into town. She enjoyed making rosaries for the church, which were sent to missions. She also made the rosaries for the first holy communicants every year. She was the last person left in church making these rosaries. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and keeping in touch with those who were sick. Her passions in life were her family and church. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
Survivors include three daughters and spouses, Joan and Chet Wexell of Orion, Rita and Arlyn Youngberg of North Pole, Alaska, and Kathy and Kenneth Morgan of Annawan; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 10 brothers and sisters, and a grandson.
