Gregory F. Nightingale, 17, of Orion died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at his home. 

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial was in Rural Township Cemetery at Beulah Presbyterian Church, rural Orion. 

Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established in his name.

Greg was born Aug. 31, 1991, in Peoria. 

He was a junior at Orion High School where he was involved in Orion FFA and played on the Orion-Sherrard varsity soccer team. 

Greg was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was involved in their youth group. 

He enjoyed playing X-Box, riding four-wheelers, being outdoors and texting his friends. 

He also helped his dad on the family farm.

Survivors include his parents, Fred and Kimberly Nightingale; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Fulton of Austin, Texas; a stepsister, Amanda Nightingale of Seattle, Wash.; uncles and aunts, Howard and Maralyn Nightingale of Orion, Richard and Betty Nightingale of Orion, John and Brenda Fulton of Austin, Susan and James Garlock of Dublin, Ohio and their daughter, Jordann Garlock of Dublin; cousins, Brian and Becky Nightingale of Orion and their children, Madeline and Samuel, Brett and Chris Nightingale of Tampa, Fla., Jennifer and Aaron Martin of California and their daughter, Sophie, Steven and Lia Nightingale of Osco, and Emily Nightingale of Orion. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lucile Nightingale; his maternal grandfather, Robert Fulton, and his aunt, Kathryn Mosher.
