Laura Jean DeBaillie, 71, of Orion died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, with a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. at Orion United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, rural Orion.  

Memorials may be made to the family.

Laura Jean was born September 10, 1937, in Cambridge, the daughter of James and Blanche (Broline) Kapple. She married Gerald DeBaillie on July 14, 1957, at Cambridge Methodist Church.

Laura Jean was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary at Orion United Methodist Church and the former Orion Times. Later she helped out at Miller’s Florist.

Laura Jean was a member of Orion Methodist Church, where she was a part of the United Methodist Women. 

She enjoyed cooking, baking and buying things for her grandchildren at yard sales.
Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, Gerald; a daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Clifton of Coal Valley; grandchildren, Sara, Tami and Tom Clifton of Coal Valley and Brittany DeBaillie Addesso of Las Vegas; sisters, Isabelle (Ray) Young and Linda (Ron) Brodd, all of Cambridge; and a niece, Lori (Ed) Dole of Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her sons Mark and John.
