At one time, General Motors had an advertising motto for their Chevrolet automobile: “The Heartbeat of America.”In a very real sense, Main Stret Orion’s motto is “The Heartbeat of Orion.”

Our town would still be here, and people would be living in it if MSO didn’t exist, but the quality of life wouldn’t be nearly as good.

There are many features which make Orion a wonderful town in which to live and work, but MSO makes it significantly better for everyone.

Each year the organization puts on community events which benefit everyone. Movies in the park, the annual Christmas party for kids, the annual community garage sale, the Daddy-Daughter dance, participation in the Orion Fall Festival and various holiday celebrations, etc., are among the obvious MSO activities, but there are many which you may not easily notice.

Orion is “A Great Home Town,” and MSO plays a valuable role to improve our lives in our town.
MSO provides many benefits at no cost to the public, but also does fundraising to help sustain itself.

Thus far, the Village Board has graciously provided financial support which is most valuable and very much appreciated. Among Village Board members, however, there are some who think it a total waste of money.  I disagree.

MSO is a growing and ever-improving organization. New services, benefits, and activities are being planned, and more of Orion’s citizens are getting involved.

This is, truly, a community organization and the good results are becoming more apparent and valuable. To my mind MSO makes living in Orion more desirable, pleasant, and enjoyable; and I ask you to get involved.

Please take a look at the MSO Web site: www.mainstreetorion.com or give Lisa Newman a call at (309) 526-8299.

There is a place for you in the MSO organization and your help is needed and will be appreciated!

Please contact the members of the Village Board and urge them to continue their gracious support of MSO.

To my mind, the organization truly is “The Heartbeat of Orion,” and I’m sure you will agree … if you take time to check it out and get involved.

Don Goembel, Orion
