I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who voted for me in the recent election and a very special thank you to those who helped in the campaign in any way.
I am indeed grateful after 14 years as a lawmaker to be returned to office, not only by my best personal victory margin, but also by one of the highest margins of victory in Illinois major party contested elections.
The people of this area have been very good to me and my family, and we are very grateful and appreciate the trust placed upon me. This is one of the reasons that I will continue to vote against legislative pay raises. If enacted over my objections, I will continue to donate my raise in pay to charity or non-profit organizations.
As a nation we face a number of challenges, some of which may require sacrifices from all of us. I believe leaders ought to lead by example, therefore I will also continue to not take travel expense reimbursement, other than those which are required for Springfield sessions. This is my way of saying “thank you” to the taxpayers who have placed me here.
Tough times may still be ahead of us, but we are a strong and determined people; and with hard work, creative ideas, and a problem-solving attitude, together we shall prevail.
State Representative Mike Boland (D-71)
