CAMBRIDGE—The Men’s 666 tournament was held Sunday, Aug. 1 at Valley View Country Club. Results included the first place team of Mike Lewis and Todd Meyers with a score of 65.75, and second place was awarded to the team of Kyle Smith and Jon Maciolek with a score of 66.
CAMBRIDGE—The men’s and women’s club championships were played at Valley View Country Club, Cambridge, on Saturday, July 24, and Sunday, July 25.
ORION—Now that Orion High School is part of the West Central Conference, the Orion Athletic Booster Club is auctioning off the Olympic Conference leader boards that hung on the west wall of Orion High School.
CAMBRIDGE—The Bombay Tournament was held Sunday, July 18, at Valley View Country Club, Cambridge. The team of Lonny and Naomi Stahl, and Eric and Amy Nelson, took first place with a score of 275.
ORION—A Peoria company, Guardian Fitness, has had a Mobile Training Team working out with Orion school district personnel this summer.
EAST MOLINE—Orion area residents competed in the 5K and 10K at the Firecracker Run on Sunday, July 4, in East Moline. Several finished in the top 10 in their age groups.
CAMBRIDGE—The Luck of The Draw Tournament was held Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Valley View Country Club, Cambridge. The format for the event was lowest three of the four nets per hole.
SPRINGFIELD—Three Orion area girls finished in the top 10 of their divisions at the national meet of the United States Tumbling & Trampoline Association. Springfield hosted the meet from Tuesday, June 15, through Saturday, June 19, at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
GENESEO—Runners from Orion competed successfully at the Maple City 4 Run.
ORION—Nick Newman works through an agility drill during the Orion-Sherrard Super Skills Soccer Camp on Tuesday, June 15, on the soccer field between C.R. Hanna Elementary School and the bus barn in Orion. He is a senior at Orion High School.
MOLINE—Orion received a plaque for having the largest community group ever at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday, June 12, in Moline. Almost 300 people from Orion were at the Race for the Cure.

DAVENPORT—Orion High School varsity volleyball players Maddie DePorter and Kayla Fowler will be playing with the Platform Elite Volleyball Club in the 17-under division of USAV Junior Nationals.
ANNAWAN—Princeville downed Orion 4-0 in baseball regional semifinals on Wednesday, May 19, in Annawan. The Chargers twice had Travis Anderson on third base but could not
GALESBURG—Dunlap defeated Orion-Sherrard 3-0 in Class 2A soccer regional semifinals on Tuesday, May 18, in Galesburg. The Eagles went on to win the regional title, while the Chargers finished the season at 8-9-3. “We drew a very tough team to open regionals against,” Orion-Sherrard coach Rick Cline said. “Dunlap has a great soccer tradition, and they are a talented bunch of soccer players.”
KNOXVILLE—“Beware of Spring Storm” read the Alexis United fan’s shirt. A spring storm hovering over Knoxville on Wednesday, May 26, forced the Orion Chargers and the United Red Storm to postpone their sectional semifinal game a day. When the game was finally played, a spring storm of strikes from Katie Bertelsen shut down the Chargers, who suffered a 3-0 loss to end their season.
FARMINGTON—Kennen Hutchison of Orion qualified for the Class 1A state track meet by winning the 400-meter dash in 52.0 seconds at the sectional meet on Friday night, May 21, in Farmington.
FARMINGTON—Orion crowned two Olympic champions at the conference’s final boys track meet on Thursday, May 13, in Farmington. Nathan Walter won the 200-meter dash in 23.50 seconds, and Kennen Hutchison won the triple jump with a distance of 40 feet, 8 1/2 inches, or more than two feet farther than the runner-up. The meet ended with no one breaking former Charger Logan Hohl’s hurdle records. Since it was the last Olympic Conference meet, they will stand forever.
CHARLESTON—Orion’s Ashley Anderson, Cara Christal, Sophie Maciolek and Megan Miller competed on a cool, rainy day in the IHSA state track meet on Thursday, May 20.
