Area softball from Monday and the weekend

    Abby Edwards drove in two runs and pitched Dwight to a 3-2 victory over Kankakee in a nonconference softball game at DTHS Monday.
    Edwards smacked a two-run homer in the third inning to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead. LynnDee Hale singled with one out and was on second when Edwards homered.
    Hale scored what proved to be the winning run for the Trojans in the fifth inning. She doubled and then scored on Katy Edwards’ base hit.
    Hale had two hits, including her two-bagger, and Macey Rodosky had two hits. Abby Edwards had a homer and two RBIs and Katy Edwards and Taylor Anderson each singled.
    Abby Edwards allowed eight hits, including a two-run homer in the seventh inning, and three walks while striking out 17.
Fieldcrest 10, Blue Ridge 0
    MINONK — Emma Lorton tossed a one-hit shutout as Fieldcrest blanked Blue Ridge 10-0 in a Heart of Illinois Conference contest at Veterans Park.
    Lorton struck out 13 and walked two in keeping Blue Ridge in check.
    Jacie Sullivan and Paige Sons each had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for the hometown Knights. Alaina Jochums also had two hits and three RBIs and Alivia Tjaden contributed a double and run batted in. Lexi Jochums tripled.
EPG Titans
    EL PASO — El Paso-Gridley lost a pair of close contests against Evergreen Park and Dakota on Friday.
    The Titans fell 6-4 to Evergreen Park after taking the lead in the top of the fourth inning. EPG scored four times in the fourth to overcome a 3-0 deficit.
    Evergreen Park tied it in the bottom of the fourth and scored twice in the sixth for the win. Five EPG errors spelled doom for the Titans.
    Cheyenne Carr took the loss after giving up five hits and five walks. She struck out eight.
    Ashlyn Stone had three hits and Gabbie Guthrie homered with one on. Carr had a hit and two runs batted in.
    EPG (1-4) dropped a 9-8 decision to Dakota when its rally in the seventh inning fell short. The Titans gave up two runs in the last of the sixth as Dakota broke a 7-7 tie. EPG made it close with a run in the seventh.
    The Titans trailed 4-0 before scoring three times in the fourth inning and then four in the fifth for a 7-4 lead. Dakota tied it in the last of the fifth inning.
    Stone took the loss in the circle, allowing 10 hits and four walks while setting down four on strikes.
    Carr homered and doubled while Hannah Cobbley and Jordyn Feese each had a double and single for the Titans. Stone had two hits and Addison Benedict singled.
