Area baseball from Thursday
Dee-Mack jumped out on top early and held control of the game throughout in a 9-2 win over Fieldcrest in a Heart of Illinois Conference baseball makeup contest Thursday.
The Chiefs plated two runs in the first inning and added a single tally in the second. A three-run fourth and a run in the sixth made it 7-0 before the Knights got on the board.
Fieldcrest came to life in the bottom of the sixth as Michael Morse led off with a triple. Derek May followed with a single to drive in Morse. With May on second and two outs, Landon Cook singled to drive May in and make it 7-2.
The Knights finished with four hits for the game, three of which came in the sixth. Hayden Carls had the other base knock for Fieldcrest.
Morse took the loss on the bump after yielding six runs, eight hits and two walks. He struck out three. McKoy Allen fanned two and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks.
Pontiac 10, Mahomet-Seymour 0
Jacob Bressner threw five inning of shutout ball as Pontiac blanked Mahomet-Seymour 10-0 in a frosh-soph game at The Ballpark at Williamson Field Thursday.
Bressner struck out five and did not walk a batter.
Pontiac gave Bressner a lead to work with in the third inning with three runs. A three-run fourth followed and a four-run fifth inning ended the game.
Clayton Haase had a two-run double to highlight the fifth inning. He finished with two hits and four runs batted in to lead the PTHS offense. Trevor Sexton had two hits and two RBIs and George Smith singled twice and drove in a run. Aaron Adcock had a hit and RBI.
