Orion High School varsity volleyball players Maddie DePorter and Kayla Fowler will be playing with the Platform Elite Volleyball Club in the 17-under division of USAV Junior Nationals.

The tournament will be played from June 28 through July 1 in Reno, Nev.

Based in Davenport, the team includes players from Moline, Bettendorf, Riverdale and Cedar Rapids.

Also going is Platform Elite’s 15-under team.

This is the first time that this has happened in the club’s history. Platform Elite was started only a few short years ago, in 2006.

The club also is responsible for helping to secure college scholarships for these athletes.

To help defray the expenses of traveling to Nashville, Platform Elite will host a Trivia Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Beyond the Baseline, Davenport.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Teams may bring their own snacks, or purchase them from a concession stand. Also available will be a cash bar.

The evening will include trivia, raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
