Sara Brokaw of Lynn Center has been added to the Wall of Fame at Black Hawk College, Moline.
After graduating from Orion High School in 2004, Brokaw played softball at Black Hawk.
In 2005, she was a second-team NJCAA All-American. A year later, she earned NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American status.
With Brokaw on the roster, the Lady Braves were two-time national qualifiers. They placed sixth in both tournaments.
Brokaw was on the Region IV All-Tournament Final Four team both years.
She also made Arrowhead All-Conference teams twice.
In the classroom, Brokaw was on the President’s List for her grade point averages during all four semesters.
She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a national honorary society for scholastic achievement.
Brokaw graduated from Black Hawk in 2006 and transferred to Augustana College, Rock Island, with academic and softball scholarships.
She continued to excel for the Vikings.
Brokaw made the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin first team in 2007 and 2008.
She was on the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region second team in 2007 and third team in 2008.
ESPN the Magazine placed Brokaw on its Academic All-District second team.
Brokaw was on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s All-Great Lakes Region first team in 2008.
During her senior season, she was the Vikings’ Most Valuable Player.
She graduated from Augustana with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Brokaw is a graduate student at St. Ambrose University, Davenport, where she is a graduate assistant with the softball team.
She is employed by Deere & company in the Agriculture and Turf Division.
