GALVA — The Levitt Foundation announced Nov. 21 that Galva is a Top 25 Finalist in the Levitt AMP Grant Awards and therefore will move on to the next phase of the application review process.

Reflecting the Levitt Foundation’s commitment that all Levitt projects be community-driven, the Top 25 Finalists were determined through an online public voting process. The votes have been tallied, and Galva came in at second place in this national competition. Galva is now one step closer to presenting a Levitt AMP Music Series in your community next year!

The Levitt Foundation will soon begin the review process to select the 2020 Levitt AMP grant recipients — each will receive $25,000 in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series. Winners will be announced on Dec. 20.

The most competitive submissions will depend upon a variety of factors, including:

The characteristics of the public space where the free concert series is to be presented — preference will be given to spaces that are easily accessible to a range of socioeconomic groups.

A programming philosophy that is inclusive, family-friendly and represents a wide range of music genres, in keeping with the national Levitt program.

Comprehensive outreach strategies that are inclusive of all members of the community.

A proven track record of presenting professional quality concerts or community events, or partnering with an individual or organization that has done so.

Community support displayed, including the number of online votes received.

Community members interested in planning the concert series or volunteering at events should email john.r.taylor@gmail.com.
