EPG hosts Senior Night meet
The home track was good for El Paso-Gridley’s girls who won their portion of a co-ed meet with 174 points. The Titans were second in the boys’ portion of the Senior Night event Monday.
When it came to a combined score, EPG won with 323 points and Eureka was second at 298.
Of the 11 first-place finishes for EPG’s girls, three included a second-place mark as the Titans racked up 174 points. Heyworth was a distant second at 82. Fieldcrest had 28 and Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland tallied 19 points.
Cate Atkins won the 800-meter run for EPG in 2 minutes, 33.03 seconds. Teammate Sophia Allen was second at 2:41.84.
Tori Witzig edged EPG teammate Faith Graham in the 100-meter hurdles. Witzig won in 17.72 seconds and Graham was right behind at 17.76.
In the field, Sophia Lowery won the high jump by clearing 5 feet for the Titans. EPG senior Aubrey Staton was second at 4-10.
Also winning for the Titans were Tristyn Grube in the 400 at 1:04.52, the long jump at 16-8½, and the triple jump with a distance of 32-2¼; Makenna Parkhouse won the 300 hurdles at 48.76 seconds; Sierra Carr in the shot put at 32-7.
The 4x100 relay team of Parkhouse, Staton, Graham and Grube won in 53 seconds. The 4x200 quartet of Graham, Emma betts, Jaycie Schertz and Witzig won in 1:54.97. The 4x800 foursome of Carmen SantAmour, Megan Endress, Tia Reilly and Julia Reid won in 11:50.36.
The EPG boys put up 149 points but placed behind champion Eureka and its 219. Fieldcrest scored 26 and FCW had 13.
Noah Smith won the 1,600 run for the Titans in 4:55.79 and teammate Mason Ringger was second at 4:57.08. Smith also claimed the 3,200 in 10:10.82.
Logan Smith won the 300 hurdles in 42.7 seconds.
In the field, Kaden Barth cleared 5-10 to win the high jump. Anthony Hornsby had a push of 45-6¾ to win the shot put.
